1) PRAY.
Just start talking to God.
And make sure you listen too; He will have things to say also.
2) READ THE BIBLE.
Read: King James Version or New King James Version.
Start in the New Testament. Read "John". After
that, try to read through all the books of the New Testament.
You may not understand a lot, but read it anyway and soak in
what you do understand. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you;
He will.
If you buy a bible, I personally recommend the "Scofield Study Bible"
NKJV put out by The Oxford University Press. It's a wonderful study
bible to help you along in the right direction. If you can't get one, any
plain KJV or NKJV bible will be fine. Try to get one with
cross-references.
3) FIND A LOCAL CHURCH.
Find a local church that's solid. Make sure they at least teach that:
1) The Bible is the Word of God. It is inspired and inerrant in its
original autographs. It is a complete and final revelation of God.
2) There is one God and only one God. He is personal and
knowable. He manifests Himself in three Persons: the Father,
the Son and the Holy Spirit.
3) Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh, born of a virgin, without
sin, and the chosen Messiah who will one day set up his kingdom
on earth.
4) Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, was buried, rose again
from the dead, ascended back to heaven, and will one day return
to this earth again.
5) All persons are sinners, guilty before God, deserving of judgment,
and in need of a Savior, Jesus Christ our Lord.
6) Salvation from sin, death, and hell is by God's grace, based on
the work of Jesus Christ alone. It is received by faith apart from
any human performance or merit.
7) Eternal life is a gift of God and nothing can separate the believer
from the love of God.
8) Unbelievers face eternal punishment. Believers face eternal life.
9) All believers should attend a local church for mutual edification,
encouragement, evangelism, service and worship.

1)"Major Bible Themes", by Chafer/Walvoord
This book covers the major themes of the bible beautifully.
2)"The Bible Knowledge Commentary", Old Testament and
New Testament, by Walvoord/Zuck.
These 2 books will help you better understand the bible.
3)"The New Evidence that Demands a Verdict", by Josh McDowell
This book will help solidify and defend your faith.
